- SETI is not an enemy.

- Their decision to move this thread was not taken as nice or needed, in our opinions, but perhaps they will explain it. (There have been more UFO reports than RF signals, so how do we justify SETI? Answer: Hope and Faith.)

- Whatever the reasoning, I believe the move to this venue was unintentionally rude, in our eyes. You have to understand Admins stare at these forums and try to organize and clear out stuff to keep the database functioning so we HAVE a forums to post in. Not all decisions are understood, nor are their decisions up for debate. Discussion would be welcomed, but certainly not required, legally.

- Perhaps this thread was getting to a point of embarrassing their project, in their minds. Squabbling and anti-SETI comments aren't needed and will further hinder both works.

- I began this thread to simply show some of what I've found, but underestimated my own feeling on the subject, and ended up taking a hard stance. (Never good!) I've learned from the experience and am reprogramming myself.

- It is counter productive, for both sides, too pass judgment. SETI looks far, and we look near.

- This is nothing more than a moved thread in a forum we all participate in. UFO's in the SETI science section may have been more than they could deal with for sponsors, or who knows what. Fact is, most people will never believe in UFO's and see it as a joke element. Strange, sad, and true. Perhaps they lack the data to make an informed decision and have no inclination to receive the data. Peer pressure, conformity, whatever. This is the real phenomenon. God forbid it from being a scientific clique flexing their power.

- Remember the old SETI site? I've been crunching units for about 7 years, under about 4 different accounts, and have never lost faith in the project. Why? Because statistically there is absolutely no way we are alone in the galaxy, let alone the Universe.


Bottom lines?:

We need to stop attacking the admins and move along with the discussions. Time will tell who finds the, "Smoking gun", first. No matter who it is, I'll be happy.

Moving this thread here was the equivalent of all UFO sites calling SETI a fake, a project with ulterior motives, or a waste of time, but life is too short to get all worked up about, "stuff".

Let's get back too it! No one knows everything.

Both sides must unite and accept we are ALL the underdogs. DON'T let the opposition pit our two groups against one another!

One, please note the difference between a moderator and an administrator.
Two, I doubt as much thought was actually put in to a reason for a moving it as you have hypothesized, like whether it was an embarassment to the project by appearing in the Science forum.

There's no scientific suggestion for UFO 'things'.

Note that it is often impossible to completely prove a 'negative'. We live in a world where all things might be possible...


To my mind, the contents of this thread are more like "Cafe" subject stuff rather than actually anything 'scientific'.

And then again, it is rather quiet over on the Science forum!

One, yes, it is quieter over in the Science Forum and I do not see how that can be a good thing.
Two, by a thread such as this or Jason's "Unexplainable Object ..." thread being in the Science Forum, it gives people a chance to post what may be scientific refutations or support for the issues MrGray or Jason have brought to our attention. I see this as very different from the rest of the Cafe threads.
Unless, of course, someone wants to move the Stem Cell Research or Global Warming threads over to the Science Forum?

P.S. - the movement of threads from there to her or vice versa seems to be based on whether it meets a condition of whether it is about astronomy. Is this a narrow interpretation of the intentions of the board developers of what the Science Forum was supposed to be about?
