I have a server that does not (and will not) have Internet access. It is connected to a network that does have it though - and I would like to know if anyone has a solution that might be functionally like this:

1. A central machine downloads work units, and other machines in my network get them from there. After completion, they send results to the central machine, which uploads back to the SETI database.
2. Something else that I haven't though of?

Essentially, this server will never be able to connect to the Internet. But I don't mind bashing a CPU or two.

There was something like this available for Classic days, but because it became abused, and allowed for cheating, when BOINC came alone the idea was trashed.

If you look how BOINC works, it needs to know all the information about a computer to be able to adjust the amount of work you would need. It would actually take pretty close to a database on your side to be able to handle something like this. It would mean a whole new rewrite.

Is it being thought of for the future? I believe there has been some talk of it, but this would be best discussed on the BOINC user boards.

Disappointing, but thanks for the reply.

I used that type of setup extensively, back in the day - I was in the top few hundred SETI users at one point.

It's a pity, because this particular server is over-CPUed.

Can you connect to the internet to send and recieve files and then remove the wire? If so that would work. Just set the time to connect at 8 days and connect the wire and do a manual update once a week.

Or better yet, Proxy in and out. No need to move wires around.
