Ever since the network changes started, I have not been able to download any S/H file successfully. When all of this started I was running under BOINC 5.4.11. I have since upgraded to 5.8.8 and finally to 5.8.11 with no success. My system is XP/Pro SP2 utilizing a Intel P4 2.8Ghz processer with 2.0GB of ram. I use Computer Associates Internet Security Suite that contains both anti-virus and firewall, and never had any problems with the software. Look at the firewall log, I can see that I am going both ways to/from Seti. I have flushed/registered my DNS so often that it seems that the machine knows to do it on it's own. I have not installed any new hardware or software, including upgrades that would affect how both S/H & BOINC operate. I NEED HELP!!!!!!!!! I am on an ADSL connection, with my ISP being Earthlink. It has been suggested that I also post this problem on Number crunching!!! Here is a copy of some of the errors that I have been getting. 02/18/2007 03:06:36|SETI@home|[file_xfer] Started download of file 08mr00aa.2849.22162.542316.3.247 02/18/2007 03:06:36|SETI@home|[file_xfer] Started download of file 08mr00aa.2849.22162.542316.3.248 02/18/2007 03:06:45|SETI@home|[file_xfer] Finished download of file 08mr00aa.2849.22162.542316.3.248 02/18/2007 03:06:45|SETI@home|[file_xfer] Throughput 46748 bytes/sec 02/18/2007 03:06:45|SETI@home|[error] Checksum or signature error for 08mr00aa.2849.22162.542316.3.248 02/18/2007 03:06:46|SETI@home|Deferring communication for 1 min 0 sec 02/18/2007 03:06:46|SETI@home|Reason: Unrecoverable error for result 08mr00aa.2849.22162.542316.3.248_0 (WU download error: couldn't get input files:<file_xfer_error> <file_name>08mr00aa.2849.22162.542316.3.248</file_name> <error_code>-200</error_code></file_xfer_error>) 02/18/2007 03:06:46|SETI@home|[file_xfer] Finished download of file 08mr00aa.2849.22162.542316.3.247 02/18/2007 03:06:46|SETI@home|[file_xfer] Throughput 40411 bytes/sec 02/18/2007 03:06:46|SETI@home|[error] Checksum or signature error for 08mr00aa.2849.22162.542316.3.247 02/18/2007 03:06:47|SETI@home|Deferring communication for 1 min 0 sec 02/18/2007 03:06:47|SETI@home|Reason: Unrecoverable error for result 08mr00aa.2849.22162.542316.3.247_3 (WU download error: couldn't get input files:<file_xfer_error> <file_name>08mr00aa.2849.22162.542316.3.247</file_name> <error_code>-200</error_code></file_xfer_error>) 02/18/2007 11:16:35|SETI@home|Sending scheduler request: To report completed tasks 02/19/2007 19:16:49|SETI@home|Requesting 691200 seconds of new work 02/19/2007 19:16:55|SETI@home|Scheduler RPC succeeded [server version 507] 02/19/2007 19:16:55|SETI@home|Message from server: No work sent 02/19/2007 19:16:55|SETI@home|Message from server: (reached daily quota of 2 results) 02/19/2007 19:16:55|SETI@home|Deferring communication for 8 hr 39 min 24 sec 02/19/2007 19:16:55|SETI@home|Reason: requested by project I don't buy computers, I build them!! |

go to "your account" then "general prefs" and change the below pref setting to "yes" and see if that helps: Skip image file verification? Check this ONLY if your Internet provider modifies image files (UMTS does this, for example). Skipping verification reduces the security of BOINC. tony |

Hi Clifton, I was going through your results and noticed that prior to Feb 1st one of your computers managed to DL, crunch and UL a WU (the other machine's result list doesn't go back that far. Btw, are they the same machine that BOINC got duplicated?). Have anything changed between Feb 1st and Feb 3rd when the DL errors started to occur? Have you tried connecting to SAH through a proxy server? I used to connect through one when we had some MTU size issues. Search for "public proxy servers" in your search engine and you'll be able to find a bunch of them. After so many DL errors I imagine you daily quota has been reduced to 1 or 2 WU/day making testing those solutions even harder. Let us know how its going, ok? HTH Regards, Wander |
