Hey folks,
I've been reading through the BOINC/SETI docs and links that have been provided here on the boards, and I guess I just don't get how this new version is supposed to work.
I'm used to the Windows command line version running under Win2K and XP. I would start up the CL app and let it run. Whenever I needed to do something really taxing, like gaming or whatever, I'd manually exit the app and restart it later.
I was just now able to download my first work unit under BOINC GUI (yay!) and I let it run for about five minutes or so, getting to about 5% or something like that. I then exited out of the app and restarted it, and in messages it told me...
"SETI@home - 2004-06-25 00:15:24 - Restarting computation for result 11se03aa.2459.11842.1040906.67_1 using setiathome version 3.08"
Does this mean exiting out of the BOINC app will negate whatever progress has been made on a work unit? If so, someone please explain to me if this is a feature, bug or whatever.
There are times when I'm just not going to want BOINC/SETI running, and if exiting the app negates all progress, well, that just doesn't make sense to me. If I'm way off base here and just not getting how the new BOINC/SETI works, if I'm running it incorrectly or whatever, please let me know as I want to get the hang of this.
Thanks much!
