I was surfing through some stats and came across this host that seemed to be having problems. Then I figured out that it looks like the the User is selectively trashing WU's that are probably going to drag down his RAC.

Oooh the morality of it all.....

Some people have no morals. Me, I've just stuck it out or tried to find a technical way around the 58.7s (if that's what he's dealing with). Putz.

But to actively have to manage a computer like that is just not worth the hassle!

The Funny part is with the diversity of different Multibeam Angle Ranges we are seeing in Seti Beta, she/he will soon be to one per day...

I'm not sure but I think the problem is the over clocking he is using. Looked at a couple of his results and didn't see that they were aborted, just failed to complete without errors. I hope fixes his OC problem or the selective trashing if that is the case.

It looks like the majority of them are Transfer Aborts with the odd User Abort thrown in just after the WU starts.

Yep, see the user aborts (support for the selective trashing theory), but how can you determine weather or not to crunch a WU before it's downloaded to your system?

If you Google for the Credit Calibration Threads that will give you an idea. There are Angle Ranges that give the best bang for the buck... That was discussed... It was also discussed that some might try to take advantage...

There are tools or brut force when you look that show the angle range. So for one to spend ones time sitting in front of the computer to abort NON Credit friendly Angle Ranges is sad... They should let it run... or help sort out getting the splitter estimates corrected...

I do not know whether to feel sorry for the individual or the folks that will have to wait for the Quorum to complete as a result of Selective Credit Trashing.

Hopefully they monitor the Forums, and can get a clue.

htrae,

I can think of several ways right off the bat.

Thing is, I don't want to give anyone silly ideas :o)

Suffice it to say, it's relatively trivial to do, but possibly quite harmful for projects in the long run.

Regards,
Simon.

You have to call it in the Aire and know when to rip out the Network Cable or Modem Cable... Then then those would appear as Ghost Wu's...

Well, maybe we have to just write it off to a rig gone wild. I have had one of mine go off into the wild blue yonder and trash the whole cache before.

I have a wireless net-connection and once in a wile the router restarts,
creating some ghost units by doing so.
I cant imagine some would manually filter the wu's.
But one could use a packet sniffer and write a bot to get some sleep.

Now Simon, all I ever asked you to do was to determine the best code to use once the WU was downloaded to my system. That's not cheating, now is it?

Lol.

Mark, that wasn't directed at you at all, I know you love tweaking your hardware but are not a cheating soul.

I know that just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you, but hey ;o)

Thanx Simon, luv y'all in the Chicken coop. If I could code it myself I'd give it a try. But I gotta leave it all to those who can-do. And thank you for recognizing my honesty. It's a wonderful thing to have.
