Yea there is. Instead of starting a thread just to test your signature, post a real message or reply to somebody. If you don't get it right, all you have to do is edit your post until you get it right. An alternative posting a new message would be to skip straight to step 2 and go back to an old message and edit it to have the signature and keep editing it until it's right. It bugs me too how many signature test threads there are when all one needs to do is post a reply or something that they were intending to post anyway. > There are currently 4 threads in this page alone > about testing the signature. > > Test Sig > sigtest only > sig test > testing sig > > One is enough for testing. > Is there another way to test ? > Like Chris proposed by posting real message and using edit after or by using edit on previously posted message. Sig are always updated so a message I have posted a month ago is up to date. There is realy no need to create new thread to test the sig except for the first one but than it could be "real" post or at least using a sig test thread that already exist. |

Heck, I don't even like the graphic signatures all that much. At least not when people have 50 of them. When your signature is longer than your average post, your signature is too big IMHO. Guess someone needs to code up multi-project graphics. Or has this been done but people just don't use them? And besides all that, the signatures sometimes cause problems loading pages. If the servers hosting the sigs are down or slow, borwsers may not render the entire page correctly until they finally get the whole sig downloaded. For example, my browser (Opera) won't jump down to the #input section of this page until all graphics are loaded. But I guess this is what happens when you allow images on message boards :) </rant> ------------------------------------------- - A member of The Knights Who Say NI! > yes! tomuch is to much! lololol This was way too much. Your right toby about the sig. I try not to post it all the time but sometimes I forget to untick it before posting. I will try not to forget now. |

No need to create new one > each times. Is there another way to test ? I agree to some extent. When such a thread get long enough, I think it would propably take a very long time to load (relatively), and then I think it would be appropriate to create a new one and let the old one go dead. Currently though, I'm not so sure that either one of those 4 has reached that "limit". (people are getting more and more impatient on the Internet ;-) ) S@h Berkeley's Staff Friends Club © member |

For > example, my browser (Opera) won't jump down to the #input section of this page > until all graphics are loaded. When using the signature generator from BOINC.dk this isn't an issue, it writes height of the signature in the HTML as well - which helps browsers load the page correctly even if not all images are fully loaded. Furthermore cacheability is used to make loads pretty fast at times. > But I guess this is what happens when you > allow images on message boards :) New features are comming up in your user preferences area (hopefully) to show images as links instead of displaying them. |

Hi all, Due to the amount of hits generated by these forums, I have had to purchase extra bandwidth to cope with demand. Luckily, the PayPal donations that I have received have covered the added cost for a while. On the all-in one sig front, I am currently developing one for users of http://boinc.mundayweb.com. It will include all the features users currently enjoy and will also mean *all* your graphics can be configured through one account. Watch this space.
