Hi, There was Seti@home Classic NLM files for Netware servers. Haven't seen Boinc?!? It would be great. Netware 6.x -> would be enough. |

There was Seti@home Classic NLM files for Netware servers. You are the first person, which asks for Netware binaries. In the moment I did not know any ports, or volunteers which have started to port on Netware. At SETI Classic all binaries was build by the project peoples. At boinc seti, the sources are free and the project supports the mainstream OSes. The ports for all the other platforms are done by volunteers. If you have the knowledge to port applications, you can pick the source and compile it by your self. - If you need help, I can assist you. Is it posible to let run binaries from Linux or other x86 based OSes (Solaris x86, FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD) binaries on Netware ? There are two threads about the porting issues in the Unix Help Desk Forums and the Number Crunching Forums. Could you please post a request into these both threads too, and add a link to this thread. - These both forums are very common readen by other users, so it could be, that anyone else knows more. http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=31532 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=31531 |

Would you like to let it run on all 300 systems ? I have a little less background on the new Netware 6.x. My last contact with Netware was at 4.11... Is it posible to let Linux x86 binaries running on Netware 6.x ? - I have seen on the Novell site, that there are two different netwares out - one with Linux support and one with NLM support. Is it posible to let Linux x86 binaries running as NLM ? If this will be posible, I think it will be worth to try the Linux binaries. Are the NLMs the same modules as in Netware 4 ? - Are the NLMs normal Linux binaries ? Is there a compatibility layer, like on FreeBSD or SCO UnixWare, that you can let binaries from other OSes running on NetWare ? Are you interested in porting it to Netware, if Linux binaries will not running on Netware 6 ? - I can assist you in the portings. If not, is it posible to get a Netware 6 trial version, that I can try it ? |

i´d like to use the idle time during backup/night those 2 "Netware" version you are talking about are 1.) the classic netware with the "old kernel" (now called open enterprise server netware) 2.) Novell Open enterprise server Linux (sles 9/10 with with integrated netware functions like ncp,edirectory,ndps,...) the nlm´s are the same as with netware 4.x/5.x but now its possible to load them into "protected memory" we are currently setting up a migration project from classic netware to (SuSE/Novell) OES Linux.. because there are no binaries for netware and my coding skills are not that good i think it´s better for me to finish my project and then use the linux binaries (integrated into the setup routine as important part of the rollout procedure :)) you could download netware 6.5 eval from the novell page http://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=AZNVuIOvwiw~ |

Thank you for the clarification. I have found an interesting article about nlmconv. With this tool, it is posible to convert binaries in NML binaries. It sounds very interesting. I think, I would try to port the BOINC client and the SETI app to Netware. But I hope, you can do some tests for me and help me to port it. |

Any news on this? ..about Netware in general, Novell uses now marketing name OES - Open Enterprise Server, which actually gives you rights to use Netware 6.5 and SLES9/10 Enterprise Server with Novell Services (=almost the same things we have on the Netware). We are currently using mainly Netware 6.x servers. |

Sorry, I was a little bit bussy. So have not found to much time to work on the portings. The porting, specialy the cross building for NetWare, looks a little more complicated, than I thought... But I am still working on it, if I have the time. |

Sorry, I was a little bit bussy. So have not found to much time to work on the portings. Yes. The crosscompiling is not easy...
Sorry, but I feel your tone a little bit harsh. I am a volunteer and do this in my spare time as a hobby and for fun. Also sorry for the delay. I am still bussy with other (more important) things in the moment. And the next problem is, that my PC board or the CPU brake, and Netware not work in the emulation under parallels. But, the VMware Fusion has Netware support. Also, the release of the new MultiBeam Reciver application is some reasons to delay the SETI build (but not the BOINC build). In the moment it is not shure, if a new application would be released for the MB WUs. But, if there would be a new application I have a lot of ports to make. So I think, it the best to wait for a state of the MB application before I start the SETI build for Netware. |

sorry..sorry.. you misunderstood my posting i´m extremly happy that you even try it ! all i wanted to say is if it´s too much work for a "spare time job" just stop "waisting" time on netware once again : THANK´s for trying !! regarding your VM problem: i´m using VMWare Workstion 5.5.1 which supports Netware 6.5 (OES) we´ve done most of our "pre-lab tests" on VMWare5.5.1 regards from austria eWaLd Sorry, I was a little bit bussy. So have not found to much time to work on the portings. |

I know... I have not forgot you. It is one of the top things on my todo list. The multi beam application is not relased and I have no timeframe when it come. This was the mayor point why I have declined the ports. But, I think that I would start to try it and not wait for the MB application. But I am not shure, if I would have success with the crosscompile for Netware on an Unix system. So I would not make any promises. |
