I have an odd problem. I need to transfer a work unit from one computer to another, because the one I initially downloaded it on turned out to be too slow. It was an AMD K6-2 at 350MHz. I thought it would be just slightly slower than my Intel Pentium III at 500MHz (Which actually was fast enough), but it took it more than an entire day to get to 15%, and I don't think it's going to work out. So I tried transferring the work unit file to a different computer, and put it in the folder that the others were in, but BOINC didn't recognize it. Is there any way to make it run on a machine that it wasn't downloaded to? I would hate to hold everything up for everyone else by forcing the server to wait for the deadline to expire, and reissue the unit.

No there is no way to do that wihout going thu hoops. Boinc is designed to only let the machine that downloaded the unit crunch it.
The way is that you have to transfer te entire directory where the unit is to the other computer, but of course that overwrites the current directory dumping those units. Just forget about the unit, someone else will crunch it.
