As per Simon's request at the start of this topic: here are the results for my computer. All results reported after july 9th noon-ish have been computed with the new SSE2 client. No failures yet (and given Simon's thoroughness, I don't expect any).

Herzlichen Dank, Simon!

Btw: the last result shown in that list is from 2005: I wonder why that 's still in the database...

Is it in any way dangerous to run the full benchmark on a computer that does not support all instruction sets?

Simon says:
Clients that do not run on your system will just skip and use only about 0-1 seconds of processing time. You may get "file not found" warnings if some do not run - you can safely ignore them.

That's been my experience.

Argh.

xW does not work and want a dll file? Well, good thing those are test versions and I didn't update the main archives yet...

I'll fix that issue. Just recompiled yesterday with a different set of libs as well. The test package will get updated ASAP.

Thanks!
Simon.

Simon,

There appears to be a problem with the MMX Zip. I keep getting a Not a Valid Archive error from WinZip when I try to open it, even after redownloading it a few times.

Alinator

Update: It looks like the link to the MMX version in an earlier thread here is pointing at the bad file. If you navigate from your website you get to a good one.

OK, I'm good to type now. This keyboard is so old ("how old is it", you ask), it says designed for Winnt and Win98 (not SE). It has 3 sheets of silver coated acetate, sandwiched to form the keyboard address matrix. Silver was as tarnished as could be, cleaned it, and I'm back. I've even managed to add a couple "extra screws" to my LARGE extra screw bin.

"see honey, they didn't need those screws.....Women"

Eek,

I just had a massive motherboard failure on my Pentium-D today - so recompiles might take a few hours longer because I need to reinstall that system after I grabbed a new MoBo.

Silly thing thought it had to pop a cap. Nice bit of chemical snowfall...

Anyway, since it was really new, I got a refund and another board instead of just an exchange for the same crappy thing. So at least now I can overclock that sucker, too...it died running stock. Bah.

So right now, I'm doing some repair installations of Windows and Linux...

Regards,
Simon.

So far so good. My P4 3.2@3.6GHz HT with 512MB PC3500 DDR running XP Pro.

11950 seconds for a claim of 50.00 = 15 credits/cpu hr (AR=0.56343). So if it gets what it claims then this will result in a RAC of 720...now to sit and wait for the granted to come in.

Compare this to an unoptimised 25050 seconds for a claim and granted of 64.55 = 9.28 credits/cpu hr (AR=0.42298).

That's a 60% improvement in credits/cpu hr. But this was a sample of 2 versus 1. I'll crunch a few more to get some more statistically meaningful results.

Live long and crunch.

Hi everyone,

please post your results using the new Windows optimized clients (the ones I posted about in the announcements thread).

Should you run into trouble, this is also the place to post about it.

Regards,
Simon.

Just stopped in to say thank you. You've breathed new life into my poor old machines. I've only had your op for about 24 hours but so far it looks like a great job.

Tis is a link to my results http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/results.php?userid=258982&offset=20

I started using your op late on the 9th on all three of my machines.

Thanks everyone :o)

Pepperammi, 4 GHz on my P-D 805 seems to run okay...haven't ventured further yet, I'm doing a benchmark and Prime95 run to see whether it's stable.

Sir Ulli, yes, I meant the thread on my site that you didn't find...not the announcements thread itself.

I just made this thread because the "are there any sites ..." thread was just getting bigger and bigger - not to mention that there ARE now sites doing exactly that :o)

So anyway...live long and crunch!

Oh yeah, I updated the test package so kwsn-test-xW.exe does not ask for a dll file anymore.

Regards,
Simon.
