Have a new Core2 Duo E6400 crunching the SSE version without any issues. I'm averaging about 32 credits per hour per core, or theoretically 1523 per day. I've just verified stability at 2.5 GHz, so that could possibly go to about 1800, putting me somewhere around #30 in the world :)

Going to run SETI 24/7 for a week or so and see how it does.

Thanks chicken!

You're welcome, everyone!

The Test & Benchmark tool may sometimes recommend the incorrect version, this is due to a significant test taking way more time per app. A future version will have a way to select quick or thorough testing or maybe even a few notches in between.

Still, a point to note is that it will reliably tell you which app works on your system and which doesn't.

As it is, people aren't known for their unlimited patience, so I kept it rather short.

Regards,
Simon.

My Opteron passed 900 RAC today...Before the chickens app I was stuck at 550. As I now feel my computers are not wasting their time I am going to build a core Duo to add to the mix.

You're gonna love the Core 2 Duo, no matter which one you get. I would reccomend the E6600, E6700, or the X6800, depending on your budget. They all have the 4mb L2 cache instead of the 2mb. The Asus P5W-DH mobo is great if you want to OC, but there are others that will serve.
I have 3 c2d rigs online now, all blowing away the FX-6000 that I built some months back. My X6800 is giving a lot of Opteron rigs a real run for their money, and is ahead of some multiple core Xeon servers as well.
Enjoy, enjoy!

Probably going with the T 2600 as I need a laptop desperately. I will wait untill the Christmas season to redo my main machine, then the Opty will go to the shop and the P4 1800 will go to a kid that can't afford a computer...I always try and give my machines a second life....

Really cool! It's easy for we who are lucky enough to be able to afford the things we need in life (and many things we really don't need) to forget that what we now consider outdated or useless would make eyes go wide with joy for one who is not in our shoes. A big thumbs up!!
