I am just getting used to the new BOINC interface to SETI, and am slightly annoyed that packet analysis results in terms of the "real data" ie: best gaussian, best pulse and best triplet, are not reported in the "RESULTS" section. Why spend all this time computing - and not see any results? In the classic interface - specific results for each completed packet were available to view after the packet analysis was completed....

Is there a link somewhere to the analysis results that allows one to see the actual interesting data that was hopefully extracted?

Any help will be appreciated....

I do not think it is possible to view such data directly via the Boinc client, but there are add-ons for Boinc similiar to those that were developed for the original SETI now called SETI classic.

There are a range of add-ons available and the one I use is BoincLogX. This colour codes the current WU as green, yellow or red against your previous results for Gaussians, pulses, triples and spikes. So if you get a WU with a strong Gaussian compared to the previous WUs it will be indicated in red.

There is also SETI@home map view that will plot the results in a sky map so you can see the location of the WU in the sky, you can select to color code all the historic WUs by Gaussian, Triple etc. You will need historical data for map view to plot and the good news is that SETI@home map view can read the history files of most add-ons for both classic and Boinc if you use something different to BoincLogX.

Yes, my Avatar is the Moorglade from the album Olias of Sunhillow. I want to change my nickname but I am struggling to think of something. Olias was one of my ideas at the time hence the Avatar!


The Berkeley folk are very interested in our findings. It takes several strong signals from different WUs taken over a period of time to flag an interesting candidate. A Seti@home WU is only a few seconds of radio telescope data so many WUs are needed from the same area to make sure we allow for planetary rotations etc. Similiarly the same signal needs to be found over a longer time period to show a constant source of radio signals. There are plans for a "real time" analysis as described in is article:
