Also, this is open source. We the people are meant to improve it my recognizing errors and issues. The more we report these problems, the better the software becomes. This is a new software item and we are just getting started with it. I think BOINC is a great program and I understand something new is going to have kinks here and there. But I love BOINC because I can just go to a different project if I need to. No biggie. I know SETI will be here when they fix the issues and finish their upgrade :)

My point is that while we know something of the Classic problems (based on what some at the project have said), we didn't see things like database outages or the validator/transitioner backlogs.

We also had the technical news, which documented some of the larger outages. See the list.

For those of us that watched our queue programs closely we could also see times when they could not contact the servers, sometimes for days. I mean, why else did we queue up results?

1. well with old seti i did not get the 40% client errors all the time?
2. what if i'm not interested in crunching the other crap that is offered.
3. i have an opinion thats mine and mine alone.
4. i don't need some self-rightious dolt telling me that i don't have a right to it.
5. this is still a free country and if you don't like that go some place else. 6. there are places on this planet that really like the way people like you think.
7. your not worth anymore thought on the subject.

I have been diligently (sp?) searching everything I can find on SETI.. I even searched google for it, and I am yet to find where it said that SETI is about pleasing you. Could you please show me where that is so I may be enlightened? Until then, everything that I have found is that SETI is for the science.. And Classic wasn't doing science anymore.. Classic had so many flaws, but you didn't see them, you just got your little 1 everytime you uploaded.. So I can understand how for the simplicity of everything, SETI Classic was about YOU.. However, until you start paying the costs for running SETI, you don't get to make the decisions.. Your imput will be looked into, however, you aren't the first person who brought it up, and I guarentee that all your suggestions, have previously been looked into.. And on the off chance that they havn't, they will be... We had a list of things that we came up with that we wanted... Became a top 10.. I had a suggestion that made that list.. It was sent to the people IN CHARGE of the project, and I am guessing you didn't get that eMail because as far as I know, you aren't footing the entire bill yet. There are things on that list that have been implemented, things on that list that are being worked on, and things on that list that are planned for later.. So if you have any constructive critizism (sp?) it would be apprecieated, but until then................Oh well.
