Yes only if using RPC connection, with the share option you can only receive information about the cliente, with the RPC the comunication is both ways and you can send commands.


Tried RPC again this morning, with a fresh password entered with everything shut down, followed by reboot for all machines involved. BoincVIEW can both see and issue basic commands (project update, project suspend) to both of the Win98 machines (!) and the WinXP machine.

I don't know what I did differently, though on one of the Win98 machines part of the key was to wait a little while--it got red X to start, I walked over to check whether ZoneAlarm had firewalled it (not), and by the time I got back all was well.

I use RealVNC myself to control other hosts.
