One of the best, if not the best, football - or soccer - players has died.

BBC NEWS | UK | Football legend George Best dies

I saw him not so long ago with Parkinson, and he still had his charm. What a loss. :-(

A sad loss and a terrible waste, it was a case of too little, too late but George did do one thing before he died and that was to bring to attention what damage could be caused by heavy drinking it was sad to see his last photo but he had asked for it to be published as a warning, in the end I think he realised that to get the message to others was in a way a good cause but its a shame he didn't pay attention to his doctors after his liver transplant, he could have served as a better live role model.

I earned a lot of money, I spent it on gambling, alcohol and above all women. The rest I threw away.....

Yes I agree, that liver should have gone to someone who would have appreciated it and who would still have been alive today..

His self-ironic comment "I spent 90% of my money on women, drink and fast cars. The rest I wasted," says it all. He knew, which life he had lived and knew his faults, being the victim of fame, money, and the lifestyle, that came with it!

Who is to blame are the doctors, who transplant livers to rich people, well knowing they are alcoholics and most probably never will change...

George Best will be remembered as that God-gifted footballplayer, he was, who even could make me watch football back then ( ;-) ), and as a great charismatic personality.
