See LHC@home.

I'm emptying my cache of WU's before I upgrade, and then we'll see! :-D

upgrading now shouldn't be an issue Fuzzy. Here's what I'm seeing on the mail list between Crulle, dr A and Rom:

Hey everyone,

after i installed the newest version of the server software some hosts in the database seems to become corrupted.
The first bit of the row is fine but around the p_vendor it starts to contain gibberish.

This does not happen to all hosts, my machine has crunched with the new server without any problems.

Has anybody else seen this?
What process is writing the cpu model and so on to the database?

cheers,
Christian Søttrup

It sounds as though the host table is missing a field or two.

Can you check the schema of your host table against that of the schema.sql
file of the source you compiled from?

They are the same except that LHC@home still uses MY_ISAM and not INNO_DB tables.

I agree that it looks like some program does not have the same "view" of the table as the database.

The weird thing is that my machine (and other) has run a couple of workunits after the upgrade without being corrupted in the DB.
What daemon does normally upgrade the host table, so i know where to look?

The scheduler(cgi) is responsible for updating host records.

The next thing to check is boinc_db.C in the DB_HOST::db_parse subroutine.

The order in which the fields are parsed is very important and should match
the order in which the fields exist in the host table.

If something around p_vendor is a problem, then the scheduler might be
trying to parse a duration_correction_factor, which may or may not exist in
your schema.

They also agree on both content and order.

Make sure you update the database
(see html/db_update.php)

I did.

I got the sched_requests from one of the users and they seem to be correct.
Then i tried running them through the cgi script manually. It detected it as a new ip and created a new entry in the host time. This entry is correctly formed in the database.

This is the last i've heard in the effort to get LHC software sorted out. I'm having no issues with LHC other than for quite a while yesterday I could upload, but not report work. Waiting won't hurt anything either.

Thanks, Tony! :-)

Just to be on the safe side, I want to finish my Seti, my Rosetta, and my LHC WU's before I upgrade. I have alreade finished the LHC and the Rosetta WU's and I'm now crunching my last Seti WU. So let's see!

But yes, I have followed the problems over at LHC since yesterday! And hopefully they're sorted out by now!
