I have recieved no credit from this WU. Here is the WU. Work Unit 129477182 1428804 <----My Computer ID 13 Oct 2005 19:11:33 UTC 15 Oct 2005 3:17:33 UTC Over Success Done 58,012.23 25.24 <--- Claimed Credit 0.00 <---Granted Credit "By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible". Then click here and see Validate state Invalid. Success just means it was downloaded, crunched and returned. It does not mean it is valid. If you start getting a lot of these, I would start checking your hardware for problems. My movie https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/502242 |

Then click here and see Validate state Invalid. Just checked the Hardware/Device Manager. Everything is working just fine. I see no exclamations or errors. The validators went off line not too long ago. Could this be another validatror problem? Is ANYONE else getting any invalid WU's? I also just recently changed my day work thing in my preferences to 2 days of work. Maybe doing that in the middle of a WU made it invalid?? There was no Credit Granted for the WU nor will there be any Granted for it because it was Tagged Invalid ... More than likely because it was too far out of the Quorum of the other 3 Returned WU's. They were in the 10,000 to 15,000 Second Range while yours was @ 58,000 Seconds ... |

There was no Credit Granted for the WU nor will there be any Granted for it because it was Tagged Invalid ... I se that. But why was it tagged invalid? "By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible". Hebrews 11.3 |

It wasnt a validation problem, From the Seti@Home front page news " October 14, 2005 Our upload/download server is no longer dropping connections. We had the validators off overnight to hasten the recovery. They are now back on." my last 400 wu are validated with no issues. There was no Credit Granted for the WU nor will there be any Granted for it because it was Tagged Invalid ... Well it sometimes takes aboiut that long...but not usually. I noticed the long amount of time too. And thats unusual. Its the ONLY WU I eve had invalidated after I completed it. I am using an optimized client too. Why did it take so long? There was no Credit Granted for the WU nor will there be any Granted for it because it was Tagged Invalid ... Invalid results can be generated for a whole host of reasons. Most likley are stability problems with the CPU, motherboard, memory or psu. Overheating of the CPU can also cause problems. Your CPU is an old PII so perhaps it is a bit tired, or the memory may have developed a defect. If you have not seen any of these before, I doubt it is anything to worry about, but if you repeatadly see them, then it is an idication that your hardware is creaking a bit. The device manager will almost certainly not detect a stability problem. Try a stress test using prime95 or similar. Also, take a look at the heatsink and fan - make sure they are clean and efficient. As for the unit taking 58000 seconds, that does seem long. However, it is in the normal range for your machine. So you can't read that much into it. Watch for others and consider a hardware upgrade. |

Try a stress test using prime95 or similar. Also, take a look at the heatsink and fan - make sure they are clean and efficient. I just recently cleaned my fan and such. i can hear it running and sounds just the same as it always has. I downloaded Prime95. It says its testing to make sure the lucas lehmer code is working properly???? is that corect? Says it will take about an hour. consider a hardware upgrade. I am actually hoping to start and build a computer soon. But I indeed have performed scan disk and such recently. And not problems have turned up. I also installed a new hard drive about 2 weeks ago with no problems. In fact I even completed WU's and uploaded them since. Only been having problems since the issues we had after regular Wednesday outages. Take this with a grain of salt. I run Boinc on 2 machines. My secondary one is on rarely and is not owned by me. I've noticed it turned in 2 or 3 long work units lately after doing fine prior to that. I think it was because the user was online occupying the machine with some kind of intensive web browsing. It was trying to claim 70 something credits and was so high it received none. Possibly you were online playing a game or something? Like I said. I'm surely no expert but that is an experience I witnessed. Founder of BOINC team Objectivists. Oh the humanity! Rational people crunching data! I did NOT authorize this belly writing! |

Take this with a grain of salt. Nope. I do not play games or online games for that matter. I do search the web a lot. But nothing that I have not been doing since I started to crunch. Also download MEMTEST86 and make sure the memory hasn't gone faulty. Sometimes a fluke just happens. I have heard of times when a disk defrag or a virus scan will cause a WU issue. To lose one once in a while isn't usually a big issue. My movie https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/502242 |

But I indeed have performed scan disk and such recently.. Jason, I think you found your problem. Did you shut down boinc before running Scandisk? You should shut down BOINC when scanning for viruses, defrag, and scandisk or other programs that move files around or access them while Boinc is using them. People have seen errors from this before and I think it's the most likely cause. tony |

People have seen errors from this before and I think it's the most likely cause. I in fact run all such operations in Safe Mode. No programs load except for Windows and the necessary drivers. I just Now did a virus scan and scan disk in Safe Mode. Came up with nothing. I also just did a defrag as well. Then you are left to watch the validity of upcoming WU or pour alont of time into the checking of hardware, which might be unnecessary. |

point mouse at the golden B on the bottom right taskbar, right click, select open boinc and let me know? I might not understand what you're saying so be patient with me, or explain "exactly" what you are doing and have tried to do. tony |

I might not understand what you're saying so be patient with me, or explain "exactly" what you are doing and have tried to do. When I rebooted and BOINC opened at start-up like usual...I doble clicked the B and there was nothing in my Projects or Work tabs and would not connect to "local host" I think thats why I got "Connection failed" as soon as BOINC fully loaded etc. "By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible". if not, then go to "File" then "select computer", leave all info blank, and click "Ok". Then on the top blue bar of the Boinc manager you should see "boinc manager-(localhost)" |
