Ever since I started using BOINC I have had problems with SETI when it comes to uploading and downloading work. Now it's "Master fetch file failed". As this has gone on for months, I'm getting close to giving up. Just what is the problem? |

We need a bit more info to help you. What applications are you running (BOINC Manager 4.43, SETI 4.18, or what?). What are your settings on your account page, especially the "connect to every...", and the amounts of your disk usages, etc? Your computer listing seems as if it takes a lot longer than most to do a WU. For example, my iBook 1 GHz takes around 8,000 CPU seconds per SETI WU, give or take, but I'm using the optimized software. If you'd like to consider upgrading to the optimized for Mac clients, let me know and I'll give you web locations, directions, etc. C Join Team MacNN |

Hi C Problem solved. I had to reinstall BOINC (three times), and now it is uploading and downloading with no problems. I WOULD like to know about optimization, and would appreciate directions. I am running a dual 533 G4; BOINC 4.43; SETI 4.18. Thank you for your help. |

No problem. Web Site for downloading. I'd suggest either the BOINC Manager or MenuBar (simple GUI) in the SuperBench. The one labled "BOINC Manager superbench 2.0 M" might be a good choice. It's the BOINC Manager with the Optimized BOINC Client already installed. The SETI client to use is farther down the page under the label "BOINC SETI Worker compiles provided by Alex Kan and Rick Berry." Go to their web site and download the SETI Client and app_info.xml files. I think there are insructions on their site. These downloads are available to anyone, courtesy of Team MacNN. No obligation to switch, but if you'd like to switch teams, we'd be happy to have you. C Join Team MacNN |
