I can not connect either. I was getting SQL errors on the web site when trying to access the message board, but now I am getting an empty home page. All of my clients have automagically detached the project because of missing tags in the schedular xml reply. ...don |

Geezzee...I hope all mine don't detach from the Project, I probably have 150 WU's ready to Report right now. I'll probably be all right all long as I have WU's to do. If I start to run out I'll Suspend the Project until I can connect again ... |

This morning when I woke up, I noticed that the server was running slower than molassass in January. So, I wanted to bring up task manager to see if I could see why it was running so slow.... this took entirely too long as I was also trying to get ready for work. So, the next step was to try to go through the shutdown procedure and try to get it to shut down properly. while it was working on this I finished getting ready. Needless to say, it still hadn't shut down when I was ready to walk out of the door 10 minutes late. So, I just powered down and powered back up and left. I had about an hour drive to work this morning. I was 5 minutes from work when I got pulled over for speeding. 70MPH in a 55MPH zone. OUCH. That's gonna cost me. :( Anyway... I work 24 hour shifts and I am 14 hours into my shift. I have an hour drive home and some business I have to attend to before I get home. So, figure 16 hours from now (if my math is correct it is 0300UTC). I'm sorry for the inconvience. I only work 9 or 10 days a month and it seems like problems crop up on those days. |

It appears that they are just whacked out right now. I get different errors depending on how I try to get to the Site. The project scheduler is inaccessible - 04:02:46 - 25-08-05 You may not be able to upload results and download new work. BOINC Server Status will retry this scheduler on the next update. Possible causes: Project down Internet connection down Scheduler too busy Download folder 'http://message.boincstats.com/download/' is accessible! Upload folder is inaccessible! Cannot retrieve status page Back to main This page was last modified on 25/08/2005 at 16:02 |

I am currently running disk utilities to make sure the disk is still ok. It should be back up shortly. Actually, Message at home is Rytis's project. He had been doing some remote work on it. I didn't expect to have to do any work so I didn't bother about installing the client of the software he was using. However, I don't think I would have been able to log in anyway... something is seriously wrong right now. I am trying to copy files off that machine and onto one of my newer files over a 100MBit Ethernet lan. I am running a peak of 2.5% to 5% network usage and even that isn't very steady. once I get all my files off this HDD I'll start doing some more intensive troubleshooting. Nothing like backing up at the last minute. (Oh, Rytis does have backups of the db so even if it does crash totally you guys won't be out much at all. He'd been taking daily back-ups, but I don't know when he did that last. |

Thanks for the update Jim. Hopefully it's nothing major & everything will work out ok. I'm not worried about connecting any time soon. I'm finishing up this CPDN unit before I crunch anything else. It keeps throwing my system into EDF as soon as I download wu's from any project. James :-) |

Ok... i'm not sure what is going on, but my network finally timed out, so I restarted the server into safe mode. It is running like it should now. (Win2000Pro). Any suggestions? HDD? HDD controller? mobo? other? I know... I put some new memory in after we got started. I guess I could run Memtest86+ on that to make sure it is ok. Any other suggetions? Jim |

There was a recent security update about a Windows network driver that had an expired certificate and was bringing servers to a halt when rebooted after the expiration date. Solution was to upgrade driver. Will look for details. ...don |

UPS vendor American Power Conversion is announcing that customers with older software must update their software to avoid server downtime. Advertisement: The company employed a component library in its PowerChute Business Edition Versions 6.0.0 through Version 6.2.2 software. This component expired July 27, causing the software to be inoperative the next time it loads – when users restart their servers. PowerChute manages the graceful shutdown of servers in the event of power failures. ... “Rebooting your server or restarting this service resulted in a two-plus hour restart followed by another two-hour wait to log in. My back-up jobs failed because the affected server would not respond to the backup server resulting in a "hung" job.†...don |
