Hi all, I'm new to BOINC and SETI. BOINC's been running well since the get go, but I've seen some pictures of what appears to be "what SETI is actually analyzing at the time", like graphs/charts etc... but I haven't been able to locate this feature or app. I have the boinc and boincmgr apps, but can't find any snazzy images like what I've seen around. ...Am I looking in the wrong place, or does such a thing not exists in the linux ver. of BOINC/SETI? Thank you, -dawg Linux sex: unzip; strip; touch; finger; mount; fsck; more; yes; umount; sleep :o) |

Sorry, no pretty pictures with linux yet that I know of. Maybe with the windows client under Wine? Happy crunching, Pam |

Hi dawg, In v4.43 of the BOINC client click on a running work unit in the work tab of boinc manager and select show graphics button on the left. You are using BOINC v4.19 and I don't recall for sure if graphics are supported in the that version but try right clicking on the wu for a menu. If you are using an optimised seti app you are out of luck since the graphics are removed for speed. |

Hey thanks Digitalis! I swear my "show graphics" buttons was greyed-out last time I tried. Now I'm running the BOINC from http://pperry.f2s.com tho and can't connect at all through boincmgr (invalid passwd? anybody else have this prob?). ...I'm going to roll my own tomorrow and see if that helps. Thanks again, -dawg Linux sex: unzip; strip; touch; finger; mount; fsck; more; yes; umount; sleep :o) |

Well the BOINC cc from there is based on v4.19. From here you can get optimised core clients of v4.43 (the latest official) and v 4.72 (the latest experimental). I have used both on FC3 with no problems. Since these are replacements for the boinc.exe only I usually install the official version first. Also you'll need to modify the run_client script or rename the optimised app. |
