Here we go again. NASA has grounded the shuttle fleet again. After 1 billion spent and 2 and a half years of work. Junk again. It's time to give up. The shuttle is a antique ready for the bone yard. The money spent on the shuttle could have went to a new vehicle that does work. 1 billion is plenty to get a new one going. And what if the tile by the front gear door is damaged. they would have to abandon the shuttle and take refuge in the ISS and leave the shuttle to just burn up in a firey junk heap. What is it with NASA. How much more can they waste. Maybe we need to give up on NASA and turn to Russia, they are the kings of space now with France running in second/ But look out, here comes China now too. I am embarresed at NASA for such a waste of our money and hopes to return to space. I hate it are astronauts. they spend there lives training for a shot at space and now this. I knew this would happen. when i saw the the video of the launch i knew it was over again. Such a waste. I apolagize to all the county's that are supposed to be are partners in the ISS. We failed again. and again and again. I am asking all of you intersted in starting a new program from the ground up. if enough of us get together and find the right people to get our own space program going. Yesterday I sent a E-mail to Sir Richard Branson asking for support on this matter, i haven't recieved a answer yet but he allready has a foot in the door on his own space program. Now lets hear what you have to say. lets hear it everbody. We could do it if we can get us all together. We diserve better then NASA. just ask some of there former employee's. They know the waste they spend. |

I think you're overreacting a bit. There were really only two problems with the launch. The first was the single tile fragment seen falling. This is probably not really a problem; and there's plenty of reason to think that that level of tile damage is not uncommon. I fully expect to hear that the determination is that the damage is superficial. The second problem, which is the reason that NASA regrounded the fleet, is the foam on the fuel tanks. There are several things that are encouraging about this. First, it isn't a problem with the orbiter itself. Second, it's a problem that can't be attributed to the age of the shuttle fleet, since they have to manufacture a new fuel tank for each flight. |
