I have had the thought about putting Linux on it

You could run a live-CD Linux (like Knoppix, etc.; it runs of the CD, no need formating things) and then run BOINC on it for a few hours, and see how it goes.

I have a CD here, labelled "Overclockix 3.8", it boots up fine, but the only thing I can do with it is play Galaga. I'm NOT familiar with linux, but have been playing with it. I think there is two problems. My ISP doesn't show up as a Wine compliant thing and doesn't seem to run. It doesn't seem to find my "Diamond max" 56k Pcmcia card. Any ideas?

btw, a cold front blew threw last nite, outside air temp 60 this morning, inside air temp 72, Now whetstone reads 933 and dhrystone is back to normal at 2783.

So Tony, did you ever get to the bottom of this strange mystery, of where the CPU is going?

Life has a strange way of playing out. I went back to South Carolina for my doctors appointment on Saturday. Slept Sunday. Unloaded truck and trailer Monday. Drove to Winston-Salem North Carolina Tuesday for my Dr Appointment (2 P.M). The Doc didn't see any sign of the return of my cancer (after 2 hour wait). Drove from N.C to Michigan right after appt. Arrive Kalamazoo Michigan at 5:30 A.M Wednesday. Sleep the rest of Wednesday. Edge sidewalks, primer and paint closet on Thursday. It's now Friday. Maybe I'll get to it soon.

thanks for checking.

The laptop hasn't even been turned on since South Carolina.

That's great news about being in remission, Tony. I hope you’re able to reach the milestone where they call it a "cure" and you live a long and happy life.

I "KNOW" how good you must feel. I'm passing the magic 10-year mark soon.

Good luck.
