Message 141312 - Posted: 23 Jul 2005, 8:10:33 UTC

Hello !

I have compiled a boinc client and a seti app for tru64.
The seti app computes correctly.

Can someone help me to test, if the binaries will be work correctly ?

Regards

Lars

many thanx for this binary!!!

i have downloaded your tru64-boinc and installed it...
i played with path, permissions etc. and got it to run...
maybe for the next version you can put a account---.xml into the archiv?

the cpu-bench was ok...
and now my alpha-dpw-500 with tru64 5.1b tries to connect to berkeley...
but there is no connection... servers are or was down...
next try tomorrow...

hey, i can see my alpha-tru64-machine in the boinc-seti computer-list...

Thank you !
I have seen in your results, that you get the error "process got signal 8".
Strange.
Can you please post some further messages from the boinc client, to give me more hints to debug this problem.
Did the seitathome app run in the standalone mode ?

Will add account_info files in the next release.

Did the seitathome app run in the standalone mode ?

change path direct to .../project/seti.berk... and start/run your seti-app?
ill try it maybe tomorrow...

Will add account_info files in the next release.

Looks not so good.
Do you have truss installed ? - If not I can email it you.
If yes, can you please email me the output from "truss -f ./boinc_client". Also interesting could be the output from the seti app in the standalone mode, if the app in standalone mode crashs.

My Email is lars at dotsch.de, or it it bounces d-1008 at web.de.

Lars

Hi,

I've got an error I don't understand:

...
Message from Server: (There was work, but you don't have enough isk space allocated)
Message from Server: No disk space (YOU must free 1.0 MB ....)
....

If I look in my system I see approx. 100mb free on disk and r/w-rights for the user and the group (seti/seti).

My system is 5.1a 1885 alpha

What kind of information can I provide you with to trigger this issue?

Tx in advanced

Look at this links :
http://boinc-doc.net/boinc-wiki/index.php?search=There+was+work%2C+but+you+don%27t+have+enough+disk+space+allocated&go=Go
http://boinc-doc.net/boinc-wiki/index.php?title=Message_from_server:_No_work_available_%28there_was_work_but_you_don%27t_have_enough_disk_space_allocated%29

You have to change the disk settings in the general preferences on the website.
Your Account/General Preferences/Disk and memory usage/Leave at least.

There is the default from 0.1 GB Memory to let free on the filesystem where boinc is. If boinc don't fetch any new work, if it will go under this limit.

Otherwise, the Message "No disk space (YOU must free 1.0 MB" means, that you need to free 1 MB on this filesystem.

Regards

Lars

The binaries are available for download at http://www.lb.shuttle.de/apastron/boincDown.shtml.
I need still anyone, who can help me to test the binaries.

A new releases of the binaries are now available for download.
The new releases now detects CPU as "alpha", and the seti app is now higher optimized for the ev4/ev5 and ev6 CPUs. - So there are a binary optimized for each platform available.

What changes did you make to the source to get it compile under tru64 ?
(would you mind helping ?)

P.S some of your binaries produce invalid results and fail with signal 8 (floating point error due to compiling it wrong on the alpha platform wich needs software assistance for correct fpu results)

New releases of the TRU64 binaries are now available for download at http://www.lb.shuttle.de/apastron/boincDown.shtml.
The new releases include a fix for the memory detection of the boinc client.

Hello Frank,

[code]2005-11-14 17:50:29 [---] Starting BOINC client version 4.32 for alpha-dec-osf5.1
2005-11-14 17:50:29 [---] Data directory: /usr/opt/boinc
....
2005-11-14 17:50:32 [SETI@home] Message from server: platform 'alpha-dec-osf5.1' not found
....
Any ideas?

Looks like your system cannout find/access the app_info.xml file...

Can you please verify, if the app_info.xml have read permisions for the user under which boinc runs.
Also, are the link from /usr/opt/boinc/app_info.xml to /usr/opt/boinc/project/setiathome.berkeley.edu there.

Regards

Lars

Hi,

the main problem was that i have uncompressed the tar file on my pc so that the link were not created; after unpacking it on the alpha and reattach to the project, everything works fine.

Thanks for Your help

I have released new binaries (release 1.2) for TRU64. The new release will fix some problems with the memory detection of the boinc client.
The binaries are available for download at http://www.lb.shuttle.de/apastron/boincDown.shtml.
