I suspose granting 1 credit for each WU would be nice. Then I could download twenty units and only crunch the ones that are only going to take a minute or two and, under the current system, grant only half a credit. Then I can abort all the WU's that are going to take a little time to crunch. This way I could crunch 500 WU's a day and screw the good units by causing errors. Is this the system you want? |

Yes, I like it because it is cross-project. I also like to count Work Units completed. So, I use BOINC View, save the logs on a weekly basis and upload them to a MySQL database, which you can look at and see that I have 20,000 Work Units completed across 5 different projects ... Best of both worlds. Oh, and BOINC LogX I think it is called does some of the same things. But, I run BOINC View as it does what I want so I can, like a nuclear power plant, monitor my moment to moment status ... Yes, I sneak peeks all the time ... I is up on one display while I work on another (I used to have 3 displays doing different things). Anyway, Yes, I like it fine ... :) |

The Classic is old and outdated. This is the new project. Everyone thinks it's the same, but it is not. Already they are doing different things with the data being sent back. Plus it had to be rewitten to allow for the new antennas coming online, because their data streams will be much different, because of advances in the listening devices. There is no way to compare the two. A whole new day has come. Let the old way die. The next generation is here. My movie https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/502242 |

Farewell, i don't like it. No I dont like it, but I'll live with it. Whats the point of posting that your going to leave, just go. Maybe you just want someone to hold you hand, to tell you every thing will be allright, well it will and wont be. This project is what it is .So come on I'll hold your hand and we'll boldly go together into this sometimes frustraing world of boinc and seti and maybe just maybe find the little green ones. |

well, i've only been here for 2 months or so, but i like it, despite the problems. I never used to leave my computer on 24/7... but now i can't turn it off! in fact, its rather addictive. |

well, i've only been here for 2 months or so, but i like it, despite the problems. I never used to leave my computer on 24/7... but now i can't turn it off! I do agree - it is addictive! I've been crunching since 1999 with some breaks but I allways return to the crunching. I have had the same feeling about leaving this project when it shows its uggly face but somehow I'm still here and do my crunching. Happy Crunching Happy crunching |

I do agree - it is addictive! And bravo to you. Glad you've helped for so long, and keeping on going with the new era. I wish I started earlier, but alas I was less enthusiastic about it until about 2 years ago, when I refound Classic. I then moved to Boinc about a year ago, and really never looked back. It is addictive, and I feel Boinc is more addictive because now I am doing multiple projects, trying to build a larger farm, and having fun talking to people all around the world (although I have done the latter for many years). I just wish people would keep it light, knowing that nothing is perfect, things take time to grow, life changes and it's not always easy to take the change, and that a smile goes a long way into healing one's self. Crunch on! My movie https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/502242 |

I like it but I wish they hadn't devauled the cobblestone. The current seti workunits are worth about 0.3 original cobblestones each. BOINC WIKI BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |
