Hi I've compiled the client to run on a sun blade 1500 with Solaris 10. The prog loads and runs, but i get the following message: 2005-07-19 11:08:11 [SETI@home] Sending scheduler request to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi 2005-07-19 11:08:11 [SETI@home] Reason: Requested by user 2005-07-19 11:08:11 [SETI@home] Requesting 8640 seconds of work, returning 0 results 2005-07-19 11:08:12 [SETI@home] Scheduler request to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi succeeded 2005-07-19 11:08:12 [SETI@home] Message from server: platform 'sparc-sun-solaris2.10' not found No work is actually carried out. Is this due to the "platform" solaris 10??????? cheers dan. |

This may not be the definitive answer, but having run into a similar problem while trying out various self-compiled versions on Linux, it might shed a bit of light. My problem with the 'unknown platform' message was due to incorrectly formated or a missing app_info.xml file. I have no experience with Solaris, so there may be other issues beyond this. But it's a fairly easy place to start. Here's a link to the 'Make your own client software' page, check out the section on the app_info.xml file towards the bottom. Good luck! Build your own client |

I followed all instruction and I got this: -- 6900-dominioB# ./boinc_client 2005-07-22 10:05:22 [---] Starting BOINC client version 4.71 for sparc-sun-solaris2.9 2005-07-22 10:05:22 [---] Data directory: /opt/3pp/boinc/prod/bin 2005-07-22 10:05:22 [---] Processor Inventory: 8 SUNW,Sun-Fire sparcv9+vis2 Processor(s) 2005-07-22 10:05:22 [---] Memory Inventory: Memory total - 16.00 GB, Swap total - 0 bytes 2005-07-22 10:05:22 [---] Disk Inventory: Disk total - 25.38 GB, Disk available - 24.99 GB 2005-07-22 10:05:22 [http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/] Found app_info.xml; using anonymous platform 2005-07-22 10:05:22 [http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/] Computer ID: not assigned yet; location: ; project prefs: default 2005-07-22 10:05:22 [---] No general preferences found - using BOINC defaults 2005-07-22 10:05:22 [---] Remote control not allowed; using loopback address 2005-07-22 10:05:24 [---] Running CPU benchmarks 2005-07-22 10:06:21 [---] Benchmark results: 2005-07-22 10:06:21 [---] Number of CPUs: 8 2005-07-22 10:06:21 [---] 456 double precision MIPS (Whetstone) per CPU 2005-07-22 10:06:21 [---] 1399 integer MIPS (Dhrystone) per CPU 2005-07-22 10:06:21 [---] Finished CPU benchmarks 2005-07-22 10:06:21 [---] Resuming computation and network activity 2005-07-22 10:06:21 [---] request_reschedule_cpus: Resuming activities 2005-07-22 10:06:22 [http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/] Master page download succeeded 2005-07-22 10:06:23 [http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/] Sending scheduler request to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi 2005-07-22 10:06:23 [http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/] Reason: Requested by user 2005-07-22 10:06:23 [http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/] Requesting 69120 seconds of work, returning 0 results 2005-07-22 10:06:24 [http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/] Scheduler request to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi succeeded 2005-07-22 10:06:24 [SETI@home] New host venue: home 2005-07-22 10:06:25 [SETI@home] Sending scheduler request to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi 2005-07-22 10:06:25 [SETI@home] Reason: To fetch work 2005-07-22 10:06:25 [SETI@home] Requesting 69120 seconds of work, returning 0 results 2005-07-22 10:06:27 [SETI@home] Scheduler request to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi succeeded 2005-07-22 10:06:27 [SETI@home] No work from project 2005-07-22 10:06:27 [SETI@home] No work from project 2005-07-22 10:06:28 [SETI@home] Deferring communication with project for 58 seconds 2005-07-22 10:06:28 [SETI@home] Deferring communication with project for 58 seconds -- Seems that there is no work for the project.
