Are "older" CPUs unsupported by the BOINC software?

I ask because my, admittedly long in the tooth, Pentium MMX system which happily munched away on the old seti@home client has problems running the CPU benchmarks, either running the precompiled linux version (for i686 according to the filename) or by compiling it from source.

I get the following output:

./boinc_3.20_i586-pc-linux-gnu -run_cpu_benchmarks

2004-07-17 14:39:56 [---] Resuming computation and network activity

System is a Pentium MMX approx 200Mhz, running debian linux, kernel 2.2.20-compact.

Incidentally and probably not relevant, the seti project source won't even compile on this machine, although I've not investigated further to narrow down the cause.

My Pentium II at 400 Mhz is correctly recognized. What is not recognized is my swap space. SuSE Linux 9.1, kernel 2.6.x.
