Have you noticed, that all BOINC crunchers who also crunch for Climate Prediction have their RAC all screwed up in the overall BOINC stats? Any idea when this will get fixed? KPX |

Yup, mine jumped from about 1500 to over 9000 ... hehe ... and I don't even show any CPDN stats at the BOINC Senergy Site for World Wide Stats ... Carl at CPDN did some recalculating of the stats & it's been messed up ever since, I have about 108000 credits at CPDN yet the team I'm on only shows about 58,000 total credits ... :/ Their down for maintenance now so maybe their trying to straighten it all out ... |

Well, I just looked at the CPDN message boards, bad news. They know their RAC stats are all wrong, but have no intention of doing anything about it. Therefore, thanks to the arrogance of CPDN staff (however small and overworked it may be), all of the RAC stats for overall BOINC rankings can just as well be forgotten and erased. And what's more hilarious - they claim, that just because their RAC stats are fu**ed up, that doesn't mean their science is not trustworthy. Yea!! KPX |

The aalternative would be to set all rac to zero and let it build up. But as it is now they leave it, as it will go down to the normal numbers. By the looks of it the rac will drop to normal fairly fast. So as it will correct itself fairly fast, there's no show of arrogance. Consider it this way: Right now rac is actually changing as apposed to the last many weeks where it has been stuck even when new credit was awarded. |

Well this is why I don't use RAC as a basis for my ranks. It is too volatile. I'm not saying it is useless - it is a good way for users to track their productivity. But I don't view it as stable enough to rank by. Also it is only recalculated by the projects when new credit is granted so when a user stops processing work for a project, their RAC is frozen. So you may be ranked behind someone who hasn't produced any work for 2 months. Unless of course the stats site recalculates RAC the way it should be done... Last time I checked I was the only one doing that though. A member of The Knights Who Say NI! For rankings, history graphs and more, check out: My BOINC stats site |
