What action do I need to take for Seti @ Home to continue to run and do I have to detach and reattach with the new names ? I believe I did this about a year ago. Just rename the cpu and keep on crunching. The new name shows up on boinc at the next update of the computer. It is NOT assigned a new number...just keeps the old one. Boinc....Boinc....Boinc....Boinc.... |

You shouldn't have to do anything, the "Name" you see is a dynamic field that is re-written every time boinc starts (or something like that). The BOINC scheduler keeps track of your computers based on their "Computer ID". And because you mentioned that they were corporate machines and I like to reference things... From the policy page: [policy]Run SETI@home only on computers that you own, or for which you have obtained the owner's permission. Some companies and schools have policies that prohibit using their computers for projects such as SETI@home. [/policy] /not implying anything about you, it just sprang to mind :) 7,049 S@H Classic Credits |

You are correct in quoting the actual requirements and If there was a problem with premissions I would not run Seti on these systems. Seti @ Home is great stuff, but not worth loosing a job over.' |
