Recently installed BOINC/SAH onto a Pentium 4 3.2Ghz HT PC, configured my Home preferences to use one CPU, confirmed via the My account page that the PC was set to use the Home preference, did a project update, but it still insists on processing away on two WUs at once (and starting two instances of SAH). Why is BOINC totally ignoring the setting of using only one CPU? Note: It's a single physical CPU, but with "WinIntel"'s HyperThreading marketing ploy, it appears as two CPUs in WinXP Profession. So have the horrible thought that BOINC counts the preference of using one CPU in physical CPUs, but then finds two "virtual" CPUs and so starts two instances of SAH. Thoughts? |

If you specify one cpu a hyperthreaded cpu will process only one wu at a time. Wait until one of the two wu's it is working on now is finished. BOINC should then only process one wu at a time. |

Does the message tab say it is using the the Home preference? You may have to update a couple of times. Try exit BOINC and restarting it you will have to wait untill one of the wu is finish to see if you are back to one cpu. Sometimes it take time to gatch up.
