Starting yesterday I get the "Connect Failed" message whenever I try to start up Boinc on my XP. I have tried setting the computer to localhost and a few other things with no affect. I have uninstalled and reinstalled boinc as well. For the fun of it I tried to install and run version 4.19 and it works fine! Any ideas?

This happened with some earlier versions but thought it was fixed, guess not. What seemed to work, in the the past, was to let it startup during the startup process and then shut down Boinc and then restart Boinc.

It also happens to me. I had previously fixed it by deleting then reloading the softeware...worked for a while and the failed again. Only way now to make it work was to go back to the prior version.

I have made a remote_hosts.cfg with the machine name and drop it in the Boinc folder (I even did this on the machine I control the same machine with), I never have a problem with it failing connection.

Sorry, but this has happened to me too. I just use patience and it works outs over a little time. I had to wait 5 hours. But no reset,no uninstall....just waited it out.
Thank
Bishop

Oh and I tried many things....but I decided just to wait it out.
