Well I'm off to CPDN. I'm going to take seti availability figures for the last 10 days vs cpdn figures and give share accordingly. My guess is CPDN will get the lions share. They deserve it....seti is too alpha/beta for me....they need to do a lot of work at UCB to stabilise things. So they get the share they deserve. I will revisit this every now and again and make adjustments. So....I have created a performance measure and seti get the rewards they deserve based upon their performance. Commend it to you all! Sad really as I only ever wanted to crunch seti and nothing else. |

OK. CPDN gets 90% and seti gets 10%. Ok, but don't get mad when you drop trickles, RAC gets frozen or you even crunch units for other people's hosts (the first two aren't any real concern the last one is easy to fix, just watch it when you download new units to make sure they are being credited to your host). All the BOINC projects present unique challenges and opportunities. When SETI falters, I just shrug and figure the other projects will get more time. CPDN and Einstein are always there. LHC comes through sometimes. SETI is my first love, though. Happy Crunching, Pam |

Funny thing is climate has had several problems lately - some of them not resolved yet But with those huge WUs it's not so fast to recognize ;) Gruesse vom Saenger For questions about Boinc look in the BOINC-Wiki |

Einstein is the best behaved of all the projects. |

3 thumbs down to CPDN!!! They didn't want me to be a new member. I tried to create a new account when Seti had problems to crunch something else useful ---> NO NEW MEMBERS! Not nice! 3 thumbs up to Einstein :) During browsing berkeley's homepage I came along this statement that makes me say: "ME!, ME!, ME!, wants to know, what patch was used and is it available for windows?" |

Funny thing is climate has had several problems lately - some of them not resolved yet oh some of them are ;) Like just an hour ago I once again got two wu's down (which reminds me I have to check if there's another mis-allocated wu), and I currently don't have a clue how many members there are in my team as all email functions don't work (which is propably why Moabiter couldn't join) Well, the perfect project has yet to see the light of day - most likely it never will |

Yeah, things weren't running perfectly this past week - Classic is ramping down but still quite active, while SETI/BOINC is swelling. It's a delicate balance to say the least, as there's no new hardware to help with the transition. So y'all are gonna have to trust us that things will get better. This upcoming week we plan to move the scheduling server to a machine with 3x the CPUs/Memory as the current scheduling server, and add another web server to the fold. Key word: plan. I'll drum up a tech news item tomorrow. - Matt -- BOINC/SETI@home network/web/science/development person -- "Any idiot can have a good idea. What is hard is to do it." - Jeanne-Claude |

It's a delicate balance to say the least, as there's no new hardware to help with the transition. Yup, things have been a bit tricky lately. Not much work done for Seti@Home! I guess most of us trust you when saying that things “will get betterâ€. That’s the only way as I can see. ;-) Sure I’ve seen the comments that there are other projects to run when this site is lost in cyberspace somewhere. But the fact is I started this crunching SETI 1999 and would like to continue that way! Yes, I’m hooked up at CP and Einstein as well but that is mostly to keep my CPUs warm and ready for SETI, when it’s back on line again - but the fact is, unfortunately, that the timeframes to find SETI online are getting shorter and shorter. This morning (Malaysian time) even the front-end web server was lost! Maybe it is time to let my CPUs get really cold for a while! I do realize that you guys working extremely hard to have things up and running – no one blaming you for not to, but this situation starts to get very annoying and frustrating! I give it another week or two, and then I’ll see if it’s worth hanging around here! Until then – Happy crunching! Happy crunching |

It's a delicate balance to say the least, as there's no new hardware to help with the transition. This "situation" with Seti/Boinc isn't new. The project went live about a year ago. The past few weeks have been "typical" of the last year... That's why I crunch very little seti these days..... |

Tigher: Whatever floats your boat. That is what BOINC is designed for. Just note that CPDN has been having stats XML problems for the past 2+ weeks and all my attempts to communicate with the project team about it has failed miserably so good luck over there :) azwoody: if you haven't been crunching much seti then it seems you would be uninformed as to their performance. Until this weekend I haven't been without a seti unit in months. Even now only one of my 4 computers is without seti. A member of The Knights Who Say NI! Then watch them sit in the queue for a couple days as they cant be uploaded or reported! Hey, CP is always on the backburner... I got my .25 day cache, and don't even bother getting Seti WU's when I can see that seti is hosed! |
