This suggests that something else is using port 1043 -- the port assigned to BOINC.

The last post was a "quick" post to see is BOINC was even up ... I guess it is ... Here's more info:

running win 2000
3Gh intel w/ HT enabled
just moved to 4.25 a couple of days ago

when BOINC comes there is NOTHING in any BOINGMGR window
I rebooted again
I uninstalled / reinstalled BOING 4.25
I restarted BOINC
I checked and only 1 copy of BOINCMGR running

(IT's gotta be something easy!)

What is port 1043 and who would use it? How would I find out?

Use the freeware program TCPView from Sysinternals - www.sysinternals.com

EdwardPF, You're not alone with this issue. If you go the main page, then click on "message board" under the community column, you'll see a "keyword search" link. I've done this and typed in "Gui rpc bind fail" and here's a link to it.

hope this helps

tony

Port 1043 is the IANA-assigned TCP port for BOINC. Nothing else is supposed to use it. Someone suggested TCPView, that's what I'd use.
