I'm running out of "of the Day" things.....help me. This is the great Duke of Wellington....famous for the civil war in Spain and of course Waterloo where the French were defeated and Europe saved froma dictator. This statue is at Aldershot which is the home of the British Army; 2/3 miles from where I live. Impressive eh? |

The only statuary I'm aware of in homage to a murderous thief stands nearby on a block of marble in an idylic spot fifty feet offshore in a pretty lake. It has been suggested that the machete be replaced with a flat-screen TV to better reflect his true calling. Here you can read some about the little-known but nonetheless favorite pirate. |
