I am wondering if perhaps today's unannounced outage was in fact a planned outage. From what I've seen in my results, a LOT of pending results were cleared today. Perhaps this outage was specifically intended to clear the backlog (which may have been a side effect of last week's outage). It's all speculation of course -- but with no announcement, speculation is part of the joy of life. |

It was announced after the software firewall failure that they would try again monday. If they are have more problems with the firewall, which is most likely, then that explains the connection failures. 98SE XP2500+ @ 2.1 GHz Boinc v5.8.8 And God said"Let there be light."But then the program crashed because he was trying to access the 'light' property of a NULL universe pointer. |

If you read the Validator messages, Matt said they still had problems with the firewall, which is what caused the validators to backlog. They had to do a small outaged to repair this. All is good now. My movie https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/502242 |

> The Mods should stick this and unstick "Planned Outage Today (28 > Apr)" I was just thinking the same thing. BTW, NA, are you doing any funky HTML with pre's and manual breaks in your posts or am I hitting a bug when I reply to things? Rob |

My thinking though was that if they elected to do that, and then verified the problems were continuing, they would have backed off from that rather than let the problem continue overnight, causing yet another traffic jam tomorrow. As it is, I suspect that folks will come in tomorrow and see that the problem (if it is the case) with the firewall didn't fix itself overnight and so we have a repeat of the problems that happened on Thursday Sunday. |

Actually it is similar to what I've seen in the past on Seti Classic after an outage there -- that is a *trickle* of uploads and downloads might be getting through. The thing is, this is still going on 10 hours after the short outage -- which suggests to me that something *else* is still not quite right. |

(server status showed all was ok...) Now there's another one. I wonder if the UCB folks are also looking at upcoming final exams. I wonder what staffing will be like over the summer holiday! |

Well, all of my uploads are succeeding on the first attempt and all of my machines are downloading plenty of work, too. A few WUs even reported successfully a little while ago. :) Be lucky Neil |

> > It's the scheduler exchange that seems to be having problems.. Do you have > WU's sitting in "ready to report"? Yes -- I've not run out of work at this point -- in part since I can bounce back to Seti Classic on a number of workstations, also, I've configured the home systems to catch a larger cache so I have enough work for at least a couple of days. I have been able to sneak some WU's for uploads if I get 'persistent' about updating. |
