It ran a number of wu's than I got this message. The 3rd and 4th lines have me worried. Btw, I started using setiboinc 4 days ago so I'm kinda new at this, and I'm no pc expert, so please be gentle:)

Your probably had a trailing space in the URL when you singed up. If you still get those can't rename/delete account...xml file messages after a few client restarts you will need to detach and reattach. Make sure you exit the client and delete any left over seti files and directories (account...xml and [boinc dir]/projects/[seti]) while detached. Also beware of server outages when you try to reattach.

Good luck

John, Dont know if you can help me as well. Would it be ok just to uninstall
the boinc software and reload it from boinc homepage, as like the original
interrogator for this question I am not really that confident about sorting through whatever is found on my p.c. and deleting individual files and directories from a piece of software.

Thanks, Kevin B.

A clean reinstall will do it as well (delete the directory after uninstall). I didn't suggest that in case you had other projects running.

John,

Thanks for the advice, I tried it and after uninstalling boinc did a search for
any files left with boinc. It only showed up 1, apart from internet explorer
files, I deleted it (boinc.ini I think). Reinstalled boinc again but still the
same problem of unable to rename account. Where should I be searching for the
directory.

Thanks for your patience.
