I have noticed that sometimes but not always, doing a manual "update project" causes the currently running project to suspend and another to resume. Has anyone else noticed this? Is it a bug, is it my comp, is it me? Can't see anything related on other project forums or BOINC sites. The following were deliberately created just by updating each project in turn. Running 4.32 on XP with SP2, set to switch projects every 60 minutes. 27/04/2005 06:52:56|Einstein@Home|Pausing result H1_1041.9__1042.1_0.1_T03_Run2_1 (left in memory) 27/04/2005 06:52:56|SETI@home|Starting result 26ja05aa.24515.17329.636084.123_3 using setiathome version 4.09 27/04/2005 07:52:56|ProteinPredictorAtHome|Resuming result t0242E_1_90930_3 using mfoldB125 version 4.28 27/04/2005 07:52:56|SETI@home|Pausing result 26ja05aa.24515.17329.636084.123_3 (left in memory) 27/04/2005 08:04:27|SETI@home|Sending request to scheduler: http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi 27/04/2005 08:04:28|SETI@home|Scheduler RPC to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi succeeded 27/04/2005 08:43:14|climateprediction.net|Resuming result 2v1x_200154905_0 using hadsm3 version 4.12 27/04/2005 08:43:14|ProteinPredictorAtHome|Pausing result t0242E_1_90930_3 (left in memory) 27/04/2005 08:43:14|SETI@home|Sending request to scheduler: http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi 27/04/2005 08:43:15|SETI@home|Scheduler RPC to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi succeeded 27/04/2005 08:45:53|climateprediction.net|Sending request to scheduler: http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi 27/04/2005 08:45:54|climateprediction.net|Scheduler RPC to http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi succeeded 27/04/2005 08:46:10|climateprediction.net|Pausing result 2v1x_200154905_0 (left in memory) 27/04/2005 08:46:10|Einstein@Home|Resuming result H1_1041.9__1042.1_0.1_T03_Run2_1 using einstein version 4.79 27/04/2005 08:46:10|Einstein@Home|Sending request to scheduler: http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/EinsteinAtHome_cgi/cgi 27/04/2005 08:46:11|Einstein@Home|Scheduler RPC to http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/EinsteinAtHome_cgi/cgi succeeded 27/04/2005 08:47:17|climateprediction.net|Resuming result 2v1x_200154905_0 using hadsm3 version 4.12 27/04/2005 08:47:17|Einstein@Home|Pausing result H1_1041.9__1042.1_0.1_T03_Run2_1 (left in memory) 27/04/2005 08:47:18|ProteinPredictorAtHome|Sending request to scheduler: http://predictor.scripps.edu/predictor_cgi/cgi 27/04/2005 08:47:20|ProteinPredictorAtHome|Scheduler RPC to http://predictor.scripps.edu/predictor_cgi/cgi succeeded 27/04/2005 08:47:48|SETI@home|Sending request to scheduler: http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi 27/04/2005 08:47:49|SETI@home|Scheduler RPC to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi succeeded BOINC-Wiki-Thanks Paul It's not the speed but the quality. I have also noticed this problem with version 4.25 on XP with SP2. It is not happening with version 4.19 on Windows ME, which is possibly the only good thing about the latter OS. |

It's a feature not a bug. The CPU scheduler refigures what it should be working on at the time interval set in preferences, at workunit finish, and at successful scheduler RPCs. BOINC WIKI BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |
