Yeah, their front page says

Apr 05, 2005
And there we go - network swamped.
Please update your BOINC client if you haven't yet done so. Minimum version is now 4.19

Apr 05, 2005
In an attempt to fry our network connections (hehe) an animation will be inserted into the render queue later today (about 18:00 UTC). A lot of newcommers will be downloading the client for the first time, so please be patient - the download network has scaled (using test servers) to be able to handle 5 times the troughput that we could hande around christmas but at the same time we have got 10 times as many participants...
You will be able to follow the progression of the rendering on its gallery page.

Kinda wish they had included a time stamp as well as a date [grin]

And ready to give up on BURP...
After 3 days of trying to get the (expletive) thing to work and it giving more errors and connection problems....posting all probs on the boards (when I could get the page to come up)
I thought the 4.09/4.10 problem was bad...BURP was a nightmare
Even after I got both the exe files to finally download @ 0.05KBps the zip file increased somewhere in the night from 2MB to 9....

I am so happy that I have been able to run SETI (insert warm fuzzies here) :-)

Note: the BURP project is in pre-alpha stage. It means it's likely not going to work right the first time you try their software.

I keep on getting MD5 checksum errors on the 122in0.zip units.

I agree and I understand the situation there, not totally throwing in the towel.

Just saying that the few hours where we couldn't get any work units and then had to go back to a previous version is alot better "anguish" than what we've been fighting with BURP.

I got one or 2 of those also... probably would have helped if I had an idea of file sizes so I could have eliminated as much as possible on my end before trying to clog up the system with another post

I agree with Timothy Maness, BURP (in this early experimental stage) is only for the most adventurous. At this point it could even mess up your system. Don't go there yet, unless your prepared to handle the worst of problems.

*currently has all other projects suspended so as not to disturb BURP*

I know I shouldn't, but I know I'm going to babysit this unit all the way through to completion, even if it is for a pre-alpha project.

I tried this approach too after resetting...

didn't seem to help.... downloading speed was the biggest issue... filesize jumped up ( 10.90MB/9.96MB) then caught itself and a few other things

I wish you luck though :-)

<sarcasm>

hooray for the BURP servers being swamped...

</sarcasm>

I'm now getting sub-dial-up speeds on this WU download. I hope it doesn't error out, too.

oh, I deleted the file manually after closing boinc after it had errored out. seemed to reset the file size perfectly well.

wow, that file 122in0.zip is still failing. download 120% 4.95M/4.11M. sheesh.

I've already downloaded Blender.exe and Blender.exe.zip and now it's downloading again.

I wonder what's going on.
