I am planning to make the switch to Linux here on my main PC. I currently have 20 wu's cached.
How can I get them crunched, returned, and not download more????
I dont want to waste them, or can they be finished under the linux client???

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated....

Download BoincView and use the 3rd icon from the left. This tells the project to depleat the project and not allow any more downloads.

Moving them will probably not take. Since the computer will look different to the project(s). So the checks will say it was downloaded by a WIN machine and returned by a Linux machine, so something must be wrong, and void the WUs.

Out of curiosity, could the same result be achieved by going to General Preferences and changing the setting of "Connect to network about every" to zero? I've wondered about this myself. I assume this would zero the cache for all BOINC projects Gonad is working on, but then again if he is changing platforms, this would be the desired effect.

Thanks,

It is the 3rd from the right.

I am unsure what setting connect every 0 would mean, but it might also mean do not upload or report.

You could set the use 0 disk space, this would probably work.

Setting to 0 would still upload and report, as that is triggered by a different event than a d/l is... other options I've heard are setting your disk space very high (ie more than you actaully have) or very low (smaller than a single WU). In all these cases you will continue to u/l results.

Moving them will probably not take because completely different science app will take over. But you can copy over client_state.xml so your machine will remain the same host for BOINC project(s). It actually only checks the host ID, nothing else. Just to keep the stats ...

Metod ...
