Having installed BOINC & SETI and completed its first unit just recently, I am already extremely disappointed by both of them. Not only don't they update statistics quickly, Seti's website also doesn't care at all about privacy!! For example, it's very annoying to not being able to post a question or message to a forum anonymously. However, I find it especially disturbing, that details about my computer (operating system, hard disk usage etc.) are published to world on Seti's website, and can be found by Google. That means, that within a few weeks, everyone will know about my computers hardware just by searching the web via Google by entering my e-Mail address!!!!! Is there any way to hide the computer(s) in use from the world without resigning from Seti? (And yes: I have already tried to change my preferences so that my computers are hidden from the world. However, this didn't change anything at all!!) |

First, why would you want to remain anonymous? Second, there is minimal info about computers listed on the website, disk usage is not listed. It is there for you to look at on your computers but you can't see anyone elses. Look at my computers and you can see what info is displayed. If you have your computers hidden then no one else can see them. |
