I just tried to upgrade to Boinc 4.25 and it didn't seem to save my settings or my WUs, so I uninstalled that version and reinstalled 4.19. My question is, will 4.25 retain my "old" WUs and upload them? It didn't even *appear* to save my account information, but when I stepped back to 4.19, all that information, including my WUs which were ready to report (and the ones I'm currently crunching) were there again. What gives? |

Did you uninstall 4.19 or just try to upgrade over the top? You MUST uninstall anything earlier versions or 4.2? will not work. |

OK, not an answer but commiseration. I also upgraded and the 4.25 version didn't pick up my projects or WUs on two machines. Yes, I uninstalled my old version, rebooted and installed 4.25. Additional notes: I never install in program files for reasons that probably aren't very good. I installed instead (both old and new) in c:\boinc. Just for yucks, I copied my c:\boinc to c:\program files\boinc and reinstalled 4.25 to c:\program files\boinc (the defaults). Same thing I also do work for ProteinPredictorAtHome, so each machine was registered for two different projects. I tried re-attaching to the Seti@Home project and nothing happened. That is, I filled in the URL and ID box, hit the OK button and the attach dialog box disappeared. And nothing at all happened after that. When I uninstalled 4.25 and reinstalled 4.19, my projects returned and the WUs were found. FWIW Erick stdoutgui.txt is repeating these messages a lot after installing 4.25...... Retrieving system state; please wait... Retrieving host information; please wait... |

I really, really hate it when things change without any obvious reason. I have no idea what the status bar said. So I re-installed 4.25 to see. And it all works just fine today. Who knows what happened to me last week? Perhaps I just wasn't being patient enough for the initial start up, although *I* obviously thought so. Anyway, "Never mind". Erick |
