I currently have over 40 WU on my laptop (not connected to the net right now) and I keep getting the msg "Cache low-water mark hit, requesting more work". Why would it do this with so many WU's already in cache??
I would appreciate any info on this. It does not sound right to me.

Probably because you have a fast laptop AND your Boinc settings are to keep enough work for minimum of 1 week and maximum of 2 weeks or whatever.
Go to your account on Boinc and click on view/edit on the General line. Change the "Keep enough work on disk to last between" to say 1 day minimum, or however often you connect your laptop to the internet, and maximum of say 1 1/2 to 2 times that.
In the Beta a .05 was okay for a number to use, so you could .5 if you connect every 12 hours and say 2 days just to make sure you have some if you miss that. Now if the project goes down like Seti Classic has a few times that may not be enough, but try it for awhile and see what happens. You do not want so many units cached that they "expire". Currently units "expire" from your cache after 2 weeks, but that is subject to change as more and more people sign up.
"Expire" means that you may no longer return that unit and get ANY credit for it. It will be resent to other computers for them to crunch. Every unit gets sent to at least 3 different computers and depending on whether they return that unit is how and when you get credit for crunching.
