Ok, hate the new 4.25 interface but want to see if my thinking is flawed. Under all the 4.1x's i use to just take the new .exe's and dll and copy them out to the machines. I have tried the following with a couple clients and would like the input of the programers if what i'm doing may cause some serious problems down the road.. Issue a net stop boinc since mine are all services I copy boinc.exe and boincmgr and the 4 dll's to the machines. Copy all the pdb files to the machines, issue a cmd to re-register [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesBOINC] to run boinc -daemon instead of the old boinc_cli -winservice or what ever it was.. Then issue a net start boinc Any forseen problems like dll's not registered or files that were isntalled in windows directories i missed? Like i said for two of my clients i ran my update script against its worked.. |

I would think that you should do the full uninstall and reinstall procedure going from 4.1x to 4.25, lots of things have changed. At the next version you can try replacing the .exe and all and have a decent chance of it working. [edit] I didn't answer the first time hoping someone with experience would. Thanks for answering, on my two test machines that approach has worked, but i'm holding off on upgrading all of em to 4.25 untill were forced to. |
