It sounds as if everything done and everyone that had to change email addresses since May 2004 are just out, right?! I lose credit for nearly 4000 work units. I have two accounts and I cannot combine them into the single unchanging hotmail address. I have the account passwords for both, but the larger one was transfered with an old, now dead email account that was changed in June 2004. No mention did I find then as to an upcoming change or that my efforts would be lost. What is point? We're all here and the only recognition is the contribution that we all make. I am not some super number cruncher that is using a computer lab to submit 1000 work units a day or anything, but I would just like to keep track of my effort and be justly noted for it. Maybe when the classic dies, so will my support. I just don't want to start over. I truly hope that they come up with a solution to correctly credit people as I know that I am not the only one to feel this way. why don't they just make it transfer when I say make it transfer the account?!

After seti classic shuts down they will update everyone's BOINC accounts. I'm not sure exactly how they will do this but it will probably be based on email address so I would set the email to the same on the seti classic account and in your BOINC account and see what happens.

This may be fine for most users but the original poster apparently cannot access his previous email account (Did you read the question?). Surely if something like this were done, it would be based on the account key. You guys did keep records of old account key vs new account key, right? I too have changed email addresses (I can at least access my old one) and I am sure (since the site allows it) that many others have changed theirs as they transitioned, to keep their details up to date. I too would hate to lose over 8 months of credit. I would be very disapointed at the least.

BTW: I thought this was supposed to be Questions and ANSWERS - not Questions and theorys posed by other users with no real ability to answer those questions (like myself). How about some answers from the people that know? (ie: project team).

I'm haveing the same problem. I can not longer access the email account that my "Classic" account was set up under, even though I know what it is. Therefore, I can't do anything with it. I was in the top 3%, and really don't want to lose my credits. And, since my "Classic" email address, and my Boinc email address are different, there is no way that they will ever be merged, at least automatically. Though my account name is the same on both.

There has to be a way to do this.
