Too many different cards so any client would have to be soooo generic as to be of much speed. Also something about the way the graphics crunch and the way Seti, and the other projects, are crunched. I think it has to do with the mathamatical numbers generated. The graphics cards are less strict in their processing than the projects need to be, or something like that. |

Certain processes are faster on GPUs, but short of the app running entirely on the graphics card, the penalty for AGP access is more than can be saved by sending it over there. At least that's the best explaination I've heard. Still looking for something profound or inspirational to place here. |
