If the only varible is the WU, would 100 SETI credit points approximatly equal 100 credit points for another project? I know diffrent computers could give diffrent credit for the same workunit, but if I had 4 computers that crunched 100CP here at SETI and then used those same 4 computers to crunch 100CP at another project, would they be about equal in value?

If they are about equal, does anyone else think it might be a nifty idea to have a credit point total?

I'm sorry if this is confusing, I seem to be unable to make words come out in a correct manner today.

The answer is that the credits are supposed to be the same across projects and across computers. They aren't quite exactly the same, but they are close.

http://www.boinc.dk
http://www.mundayweb.com ?? I am not quite certain about this one.

These are just three of several web sites that have cross project stats. http://www.setisynergy.com has individual project stats for several projects and cross project stats are planned.

That's the whole idea behind rating work in 'cobblestones' instead of just counting work units -- so that you gain roughly the same number of points for roughly the same amount of work on each project.

I don't think it is possible to get them exactly the same on all hardware. My laptop can get more work done on seti than my desktop but on other projects it is much slower so it would be impossible to make it get the same credit on different projects. But yes, it is pretty good.

Adrian, have you ever noticed the "cross projected ID" on your account page? As long as you sign up with the same email address on all the projects, the CPID should be the same on all the projects you are attached to. If this is the case then the 3rd party stats sites will combine them quite nicely. (add mine to the list that John gave above :)

Just to be fair, I added a FAQ question and note the 4 Statistics sites. If anyone feels wounded because I forgot them, or made some other mistake, drop me a line and I will fix it ...
