I downloaded 4.63 to see what changes have been made and to see how well it works on my XP HT system. The only problem I seem to be having now is that if I leave my computer for several hours (seems to be over 12hrs) when I come back it asks for a password to unlock the computer, all I have to do is hit return for it to clear without entering any password. It doesn’t seem to be anything to do with the screensaver as that is set to go blank after ten minutes with no password needed to clear it which works fine. I have gone back to 4.19 and I have looked everywhere I can think of, but can’t find what is causing it. Any help would be appreciated. Anthony |

Anthony, It sounds like you have accidently activated some password request function, either for your screensaver (whichever that is), or the computers power management. Look for 'on resume, password protect' in the screensaver tab of your display properties; check your power options settings for whether or not you have told it to standby, etc, after however long, look for 'prompt for password when computer resumes from standby'. Not sure if this is your problem, but it's worth a shot. TTFN Ken Phillips BOINC question? Look here "The beginning is the most important part of the work." - Plato |

If I recall, the 4.63 install set the password requirement for the screensaver to on. This has been fixed in a later version. Things like this (and sometimes much worse) are why it is in alpha. BOINC WIKI |

I’m not so sure that it is something to do with the screensaver as the screensaver will clear straight away even if I haven’t touched my computer for several hours, the problem only seems to be if the computer hasn’t been touched for a long time, like overnight. Part of the message on the password popup is that the computer has been locked and that only Anthony or an administrator can unlock the computer. Anthony |

Anthony, you haven't mentioned the OS that you running . But if you run Windows: right click the desktop then select Properties then click the Screen Saver tab and see if the check box for "on resume, password protect" has been checked. if so uncheck it. |
