Hi I'm new here and I've serched the message board for answers to my questions. But I'vent foud, yet. I'm running BOINC w/ SETI@home for 1 day, processing, finishing and uploading units, by I have still no credits, at all! Why? Maybe I haven't understanded the credit system. I was running SETI@home Classic, and I have there 1 workunit comlpleted (yes, low, but I reiscribed my account 2 days ago, because I've lost everything of the older one. Very older indeed!!). I want to understand if I can tranfer this results in BOINC account, and viceversa. And, more important! Are results from SETI program taken in account the same way as of the original program. We share the same informations? Or are we, for example, running a confirmation computation of candidates found in the original SETI@home program. Sorry if I've not understood the differences, but a clearer explanation (fo me) is welcome! By to all! <i>"I've seen things, you people wouldn't believe...hmmm... attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I've watched C Beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate. All those moments, will be lost in time like tears in rain..."</i> |

First of all, welcome to SETI/BOINC! The answer is to have patience. Berkeley's been having some trouble for the last fortnight or so with installing servers and such, so we'll have to wait out for their solution(s). Second, under BOINC that credit scheme has changed. You first claim credit based on how much work you've done. That claim is verified when two/three other computers say "we worked on the same work unit and got the same result". After that point, credit is awarded to everyone who crunched that workunit. If memory serves, it was discussed in one of the "Number Crunching" threads recently. All in all, be patient - You will get the credit you deserve. And once again, welcome to SETI/BOINC! |
