I have found a couple of WU's where I have successfully completed it, claimed a normal amount of credit, but been given Zero!!! Can someone explain what is happening here? Many thanks, Nic. http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=7763105 http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=7763811 |

Right now I don't think the Validator is even working, I haven't had any new WU's Validated in the last 8-10 hours ... PS: Your WU's are Marked Invalid, so thats why no credit was given to you ... |

The one that stood out to me was the one marked invalid with only 3 results completed and returned as successful. If it was invalid and only 2 results completed as a match shouldnt the WU have been re-assigned again. It did start to but says not needed. Makes me wonder did you grab the WU's and move them to another comp to crunch then move them back over? Could that cause the result to be correct but deemed invalid? Im just curious because Ive not seen that yet personally (of course Ive only been doing this for a short time). <a href="http://www.teampicard.net"><img src="http://boinc.mundayweb.com/seti2/stats.php?userID=2205&trans=off"></a> |

WU was considered complete when two out of the three matched. So there was no need to even send the WU out again, its complete. |

Per the RSS feed. It was changed to validate after three results came back, but does it actually say they need three matching results? Looking at the WU more closely, it shows the first got clobbered with a client download error, and from the resuls numbers thats when the fifth copy got added. But it never got sent out since the other two results came back not much later. Quorum appears to be three returned results, two that match. |

> It's tough too tell when I look at my WU's so many of them are pending with > three or more complete. I had a script that downloaded all my WUs and results they pointed to. Put them all on one page, WU followed by results - one line summary for each. Made it a lot easier to see things. |

I too thought it was 3 matches needed but that WU clearly says to me that it must be 3 returned/2 match min. Another thing that I can conclude from that Wu is that the highest is tossed first when it does the given credit thing. :) To bad it wasnt the lowest first :D <a href="http://www.teampicard.net"><img src="http://boinc.mundayweb.com/seti2/stats.php?userID=2205&trans=off"></a> |

The remove highest & lowest and average the rest is only used if atleast 3 results passes validation. ;) Min_quorum have always been 3 in seti, except a couple days in December (and part of beta). This means the validator isn't called before got atleast 3 "success"-results. But, in seti the validator is programmed in such a way the wu passes validation then finds a pair of results to be "similar enough". |

I missed looking at the WU and seeing it as invalid. I assumed the "successful" tag applied to validation too. I havent moved any WU's between computers, but I did boost my PC to 104% to see what affect the extra mhz had on my seti time. Unfortunately, I'm using cheap memory, and had a few crashes. Obviously it screwed a couple of seti results too... Good to see the system works hey guys! ;o))) |

The easy to see 'sucess' tag only means that the client didn't report any errors. You have to dig down to see if it validated. BOINC WIKI BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |
