I did the metrics on my computers, the athlon xp 1800+ metrics were about the same as the P4 3.2g w/ht (presumable it used one of the two virtual cpus so could be about double, but the metrics were equivalent).

in any case, with only 1 cpu running, the p4 does the work unit in 2 hours -vs- 4.5 for the 1800+.

so the metrics aren't really very useful as a predictor.
and if I turned both cpus on I guess I'd get 2 units in 2 hours...

any thoughts?

If you turned on the second CPU you would likely do 2 workunits in 3 to 4 hours, so the metric would be a bit closer to reality. The benchmarks do need more work however they are working well enough now to be pretty low on the priority list.
