Personal background
I am a 22 year old student from Dundee in Scotland. Actually, I will only be a student for a few more months, as Im graduating in June with a BSc (Hons) in Applied Computing.

I hope to go on to do work in software engineering (my main areas of interest are .NET, Java, Web Services etc), but I am also interested in game programming, although it will be a while before my DirectX skills are up to par!

Im quite interested in Science, at the moment Im reading The Life of the Cosmos by Lee Smolin, and offhand reading a couple of C# books (DirectX9 and .Net & Programmers Guide to C#).

I quite enjoy sport, occasionally play football, but more often watch. I do a fair bit of keep fit in the form of weight lifting (at the moment that consists of several forms of bench pressing, should pressing, squats, deadlifts and chin ups).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think humans should definately send out beacons, although in what form Im not entirely sure. Maybe if some language could be devised which was based on mathematics or the laws of science then it would be easily understood. I am of the opinion that every satellite that is launched should carry this information, and when its lifespan is expended, it should be sent flying off into space rather than crashing down into the oceans!
