Personal background
I started playing with computers in the late 1978. They used to be called either "mainframes" or "home computers". I was playing with both!
I'm located near the city of Napoli, Italia, so I can have a very good pizza and very nice music.
My favourite TV series were "Dr. Who", "Star trek", "Space 1999" (when I had time and desire to watch TV).
All of them promote a basic idea: Universe would be boring with only one inhabited planet.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Universe is a real big place, accordingly to our knowledge and there would be a lot of wasted space without other life forms other than ours.
SETI is one of the possible way to try to discover our neighbours: hearing them laughing about us. The other way would be laughing loudly enough about them.
The actual problem is if we are able to "listen" and discern a meaningful
message. But this is another history.
